If you’re travelling from outside Auckland, our late-afternoon departure means you can connect through on the same day, with no need for pre-tour accommodation in Auckland.

Dinner and a glass of wine included

Ambleside Estate & Gin Blending Masterclass

Today we head into the beautiful Adelaide Hills for a relaxed, creative and wonderfully social start to our South Australian adventure.

We begin with lunch at Ambleside Estate, enjoying seasonal, share-style dishes in a relaxed garden setting — the perfect way to settle in and get to know one another.

After lunch, enjoy the Gin Blending Masterclass, sampling a tasting flight of gins before creating and bottling your own personalised blend to take home. We’ll let you in on a little secret — we reckon their Mandarin Gin is the best… but then again, their Blossom Gin is right up there too. We’ll leave you to decide, because honestly, we can’t!

This evening, we meet again for dinner at a local restaurant, enjoying a relaxed shared meal – drinks are own cost tonight.

🌹 Day 3 – Wednesday 9 December 2026

Auchendarrach House, Melba’s Chocolates & Beerenberg Farm

A beautiful blend of history, gardens and Christmas shopping.

We begin with a private guided tour of the elegant Auchendarrach House, a gracious historic home steeped in stories and charm. As we explore the beautifully preserved rooms, you’ll hear fascinating insights into the house’s past while enjoying exclusive access not available to the general public.

Following our tour, we sit down to lunch at Auchendarrach, taking time to relax and enjoy the setting before heading outdoors for a guided walk through the stunning rose gardens. With many rare and heritage rose varieties, this is a true highlight — the colours are beautiful, the setting is serene and the scent is simply divine. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply and savour the moment (and yes, it’s a photographer’s dream).

In the afternoon, we turn our attention to festive treats and Christmas gifting. At Melba’s Chocolates, there’s time to browse an irresistible range of handcrafted chocolates, old-fashioned sweets, beautifully boxed gift selections and novelty treats — perfect for Christmas presents (if they make it home!).

We then continue to Beerenberg Farm, renowned for its premium jams, relishes, sauces and gourmet pantry items. This is the ideal place to stock up on Christmas hampers, hostess gifts or something special for holiday entertaining — many guests love creating their own collection of delicious South Australian flavours to take home.

A day filled with beauty, fragrance and flavour — and one that always proves a favourite.

🎨 Day 4 – Thursday 10 December 2026

Hans Heysen Gallery, Gardens & High Tea with Bubbles

An elegant and inspiring day. We visit the Hans Heysen Gallery and historic home, gaining insight into the life and work of one of Australia’s most celebrated landscape artists. As we explore the house, studio and gallery spaces, you’ll learn about Heysen’s artistic journey, his deep connection to the Australian landscape and the environment that inspired many of his most iconic works.

There’s time to browse the beautifully curated gallery shop, a true treasure trove for art lovers and Christmas shoppers alike. Here you’ll find stunning art books, high-quality prints, elegant stationery, homewares and thoughtful gifts — perfect for meaningful Christmas presents or a special keepsake to remember the day.

Our experience begins with a guided tour of Hans Heysen’s historic house and art studio, offering a rare and intimate insight into both his personal life and creative world. As we move through the beautifully preserved rooms of the house, your guide shares stories of Heysen’s family life, daily routines and the era in which he lived — giving wonderful context to the artist behind the paintings.

Stepping into the art studio is a particular highlight. This is where Heysen worked, observed the changing light and translated the surrounding landscape onto canvas. Seeing the studio space — with its outlook, proportions and atmosphere — allows you to truly understand how deeply connected his work was to this place. It’s a moment many visitors find quietly moving, standing where one of Australia’s great artists once stood, inspired by the very scenery that still surrounds us today.

The tour flows naturally from the house and studio into the gardens, creating a seamless sense of how home, art and landscape were intertwined in Heysen’s life. It’s a thoughtful, unhurried experience that invites reflection, curiosity and a deeper appreciation of his work — even for those who don’t consider themselves “art experts”.

A beautiful blend of history, creativity and place — and a highlight for anyone who enjoys stories, artistry and slowing down to truly absorb their surroundings.

We finish in the most delightful way — with a beautiful high tea, complete with a glass of bubbles. Think delicate treats, relaxed conversation and a touch of sparkle — refined, unhurried and a real indulgent treat shared with friends.

This evening, we meet up again for dinner together – drinks own cost tonight.
