Over a long weekend of four fabulous days and three nights, we’ve brought together some of our favourite Chatham Island experiences, spectacular sightseeing and, of course, plenty of fabulous local seafood. Think Chatham Island crayfish, pāua, kina, blue cod and more, enjoyed while exploring one of New Zealand’s most fascinating and remote island communities with a local Chatham Island guide.

Your getaway begins and ends in Wellington, with return Air Chathams flights included. Once we arrive on the island, your accommodation, transfers, sightseeing, experiences and all meals are taken care of.

For our travellers, your own beautifully appointed Forget Me Not Suite were we stay.  For solo travellers, there’s NO SOLO SUPPLEMENT and no requirement to share.

OVERVIEW

This is the Chatham Islands in one delicious little package.

Our Mini Seafood Extravaganza takes some of the experiences our travellers love about our longer Chatham Islands tours and brings them together into a fabulous four-day island escape. We’ll spend our days exploring Chatham Island with a local guide and our mealtimes enjoying some of the incredible seafood harvested from the pristine waters surrounding the islands.

Our seafood journey begins on our first evening with a fabulous seafood platter featuring Chatham Island crayfish. Day two brings a special seafood lunch at beautiful Admiral Gardens, followed that evening by an island classic, Chatham Island Blue Cod & Chips at Hotel Chatham.

Then we save something very special for our final evening, our Seafood Extravaganza farewell dinner at Kopi Bush Retreat.

Think pāua, kina, blue cod and more (maybe even Chatham Island oysters), celebrating the flavours and produce of these remarkable islands.

ITINERARY
DAY 1 | FRIDAY 16 APRIL 2027
WELLINGTON TO THE CHATHAM ISLANDS & OUR CRAYFISH SEAFOOD PLATTER

Our adventure begins 10.15am at Wellington Airport, where we meet for our Air Chathams flight across the Pacific to the Chatham Islands which departs at 12.15pm, landing at 2.45pm. On arrival, we’ll be welcomed to the island and transferred to Hotel Chatham, settling into our beautifully appointed Forget Me Not Suites before beginning our Chatham Island experience and a start exploring the Waitangi township.

Tonight we gather for our first taste of what these islands are famous for, a fabulous seafood platter featuring Chatham Island crayfish. Fresh local seafood, island hospitality and wonderful company make this the perfect introduction to our Mini Seafood Extravaganza.

DAY 2 | SATURDAY 17 APRIL 2027
ISLAND EXPLORING, ADMIRAL GARDENS & BLUE COD & CHIPS

After breakfast, we set off with our local Chatham Island guide for a full day exploring the landscapes, history and stories of this fascinating island. We’ll visit some of the island’s major attractions, discover more about the people and history that have shaped this remote community and take in the rugged scenery that makes the Chathams so distinctive.

One of today’s highlights is our visit to beautiful Admiral Gardens, where we’ll enjoy the gardens, wonderful island hospitality and a special seafood lunch.

Our island exploration continues during the afternoon before we return to Hotel Chatham for another distinctly local food experience. Tonight it’s an iconic Chatham Island favourite, Blue Cod & Chips. Beautiful local blue cod, freshly prepared and enjoyed right here on the island.

DAY 3 | SUNDAY 18 APRIL 2027
CHATHAM ISLAND EXPLORING & KOPI BUSH SEAFOOD EXTRAVAGANZA

After breakfast, we head out again with our local Chatham Island guide for another wonderful day discovering Chatham Island. We’ll explore more of the island’s major attractions, landscapes and stories, giving us another opportunity to experience the character of this wonderfully remote destination.

Lunch is included as part of today’s touring, but we’ll be saving plenty of room for what awaits us tonight.

This evening we travel to Kopi Bush Retreat for our Seafood Extravaganza farewell dinner, one of the signature experiences of our Chatham Islands tours.

Our special farewell celebrates the bounty of the Chatham Islands and the pristine waters surrounding them. Think pāua, kina, blue cod and more, depending on what is fresh and available from the local catch. It’s an evening of fabulous food, genuine island hospitality and wonderful company, and the perfect finale to our Mini Seafood Extravaganza.

DAY 4 | MONDAY 19 APRIL 2027
FAREWELL TO THE CHATHAMS & RETURN TO WELLINGTON

After breakfast, we enjoy our final morning on Chatham Island before preparing to farewell our island hosts. It may have been a Mini Seafood Extravaganza, but we’ll have packed an incredible amount into our four days together, from fresh local seafood and island hospitality to spectacular scenery, fascinating stories and some very special Chatham Island experiences.

We transfer to Chatham Islands Airport for our return Air Chathams flight to Wellington, where our Mini Seafood Extravaganza concludes.

LEVEL OF FITNESS

A medium level of fitness is required for this tour. While this is not a hiking or high-activity itinerary, exploring the Chatham Islands does involve walking across uneven and sometimes rough ground, including natural tracks and unsealed surfaces.

Some of our sightseeing experiences involve walking and clambering down uneven paths, including the opportunity to walk across the spectacular basalt columns. Surfaces can be uneven and slippery, particularly after wet weather, so good balance, reasonable mobility and confidence walking over natural terrain are important.

For those who prefer not to make the walk down to the basalt columns, they can also be viewed from the top of the hill. The elevated viewpoint provides wonderful views across the formations and surrounding landscape, with opportunities to capture some amazing images without making the descent.

Travellers should be comfortable walking independently over uneven ground, negotiating steps and slopes, and getting in and out of touring vehicles throughout the day. Sturdy, supportive walking shoes with good grip are essential.

If you have concerns about whether the level of activity is suitable for you, please contact Travel With Lesley Whyte before booking so we can discuss the physical requirements of the tour.

PRICE & PAYMENT

NZ$5,700 per person.

A deposit of NZ$2,000 per person is required at the time of booking to secure your place. The remaining balance of NZ$3,700 per person is due 8 weeks prior to departure.
