Here you’ll have the opportunity to visit the iconic Stone Store and Kemp House, two of New Zealand’s oldest surviving buildings. Wander through the heritage precinct, browse local galleries and enjoy the charming atmosphere of this historic township.
From Kerikeri we continue north-east to the delightful seaside settlement of Mangonui, famous for its historic waterfront and home to what many consider New Zealand’s most famous fish and chip shop. Enjoy lunch overlooking the harbour while watching fishing boats and yachts come and go.
After some free time to explore the village, we return to Paihia in the late afternoon, leaving the evening free for you to continue enjoying the festival performances and events.

Today we experience one of the absolute highlights of Northland — a full-day cruise through the spectacular Bay of Islands (Ipipiri).
Following the historic route of the original Cream Trip, our journey takes us through some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in New Zealand. Cruise amongst the islands, bays and secluded coves while enjoying informative commentary about the area’s rich Māori and European history.
As we venture further into the bay, we’ll travel past the dramatic Cape Brett Peninsula and continue to the famous Hole in the Rock (Motukōkako). Conditions permitting, the vessel may pass through this remarkable natural formation. Keep watch throughout the day for dolphins, seabirds and other marine wildlife which are frequently encountered in these waters.
A highlight of the day is our stop at Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island, where you’ll have time to relax on the beach, enjoy one of the island’s scenic walking tracks, take a swim, or simply soak up the beauty of your surroundings. The Otehei Bay Café and Bar provides the perfect place to enjoy refreshments while taking in the stunning views.
Following our island stopover, we continue exploring the inner islands of the bay, passing historic sites including Marsden Cross, where Christianity was first introduced to New Zealand. Depending on conditions, you may even have the opportunity to experience the fun and unique tradition of boom-netting.
This is a truly unforgettable day showcasing the very best of the Bay of Islands.

Travelling through rolling farmland and coastal landscapes, we arrive at Opononi, overlooking the magnificent Hokianga Harbour. This historic region is rich in Māori history and offers stunning views across one of New Zealand’s most significant harbours.
From here we continue through the ancient Waipoua Forest, home to some of the largest and oldest kauri trees in the world. This awe-inspiring giant is one of New Zealand’s most treasured natural landmarks.
Our journey then takes us to Dargaville, once the centre of New Zealand’s kauri timber industry. Enjoy lunch before visiting the local museum, which provides fascinating insights into the region’s history, pioneering heritage and connection to the mighty kauri forests.
