Day 1: Akaroa & Christchurch Delights
We kick off our journey in Christchurch, where you’ll meet at the airport and head straight to the charming Akaroa village. Explore the Farmers’ Market, enjoy local produce, artisan treats, and then indulge in a delicious lunch. After some shopping at The Tannery, we’ll head back to Commodore Hotel for a welcome dinner, toasting to the exciting journey ahead!
Day 2: Wilderness, Peaks & Pies
Brace yourself for a scenic drive to Broken River Ski Field, where you’ll experience the highest tramway in the Southern Hemisphere. The stunning alpine views are the perfect backdrop for lunch before we head to the moss-draped South Island Beech forests. And of course, we’ll stop for the famous Sheffield Pies along the way! After exploring Castle Hill.
Days 3 & 4: Franz Josef – Glaciers & Reflections
Prepare for the thrill of a heli-flight over Franz Josef Glacier, landing on the icy wonderland beneath you! Next, we’ll take a boat tour through Okarito Lagoon’s pristine wetlands, a birdwatcher’s paradise. Later, the mirror-like reflections of Aoraki/Mount Cook at Lake Matheson will leave you in awe. Franz Josef Wilderness Quad Biking: Buckle up for an exhilarating off-road adventure! Ride through rugged riverbeds, lush rainforest trails, and untamed wilderness, with stunning Franz Josef scenery as your backdrop. Expect adventure, fun, and maybe a little splash of mud!
Day 5: Scenic Train & West Coast Wonders
Next, we journey to Hokitika, home to the famous Hokitika Gorge, with its striking turquoise waters and lush rainforest. Then, we’ll board the iconic TranzAlpine train, one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world, for a luxurious dining experience as we pass dramatic gorges and vast plains.
Day 6: Farewell to Christchurch
Our final day starts with a 50-minute scenic tram ride through Christchurch’s vibrant city center. Afterward, enjoy a peaceful punt ride on the Avon River, taking in the beautiful Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
