Sydney Street Photography: Streetscapes & Seascapes Photography Retreat

4 Days | 3 Nights | Capture to Print Experience

10.00am 2nd July – 4.00pm Sunday 5th July.

Step into the vibrant heart of Sydney and immerse yourself in a dynamic Capture to Print photography retreat designed to elevate your creative vision and technical skills.

This 4-day, 3-night experience focuses on one of the world’s most powerful and expressive genres — street photography. From bustling laneways and iconic city scenes to stunning coastal seascapes, you’ll learn how to observe, anticipate and capture authentic moments that tell a story.

What You’ll Learn & Experience

Over 2½ days in the field, you’ll be guided through a series of carefully curated shooting sessions across Sydney’s most photogenic locations. You’ll explore:

    • The art of street photography storytelling
    • ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) techniques for creative expression
    • Long exposure photography for motion and mood
    • Night photography capturing the city’s energy after dark
    • Composition, light, timing and working confidently in public spaces

Every session is hands-on, supportive and designed to help you build confidence while developing your own unique photographic style.

Capture to Print – The Full Journey

This is more than just taking photos — it’s about completing the creative process.

After 2½ dedicated days of capturing images, you’ll transition from capture to creation in guided editing sessions where you will:

    • Learn to edit your images using a professional workflow
    • Refine your selection for impact and storytelling
    • Prepare your files for high-quality printing
    • Print a selection of your favourite images in A3+ format, ready for framing

You’ll leave not only with new skills, but with tangible, display-worthy prints — a true reflection of your journey.

Camera Equipment & Editing Requirements

Street photography is an incredibly personal style of photography, and every photographer approaches it differently. Traditional “purist” street photographers will often use a prime 50mm lens, while others may prefer wider focal lengths such as 14mm or 24mm to immerse viewers directly into the scene.

If you do not own prime lenses, please do not worry — simply bring a lens suitable for street photography. A versatile zoom lens such as a 24–100mm range is perfectly acceptable and will provide excellent flexibility throughout the retreat.

During the workshop, you will generally be operating your camera in either Aperture Priority or Shutter Priority mode. Many experienced street photographers also shoot using Auto ISO settings for speed and responsiveness in changing light conditions.

Please Bring:

  • Camera body and preferred street photography lens(es)
  • Tripod for night photography and long-exposure street photography sessions
  • ND Filter for long-exposure seascape and creative motion work
  • Plenty of spare memory cards — we will not have spare cards available for guest use
  • Spare batteries and battery charger
  • Laptop with Adobe Lightroom Classic pre-installed, updated and fully registered/licensed prior to arrival

Editing sessions form an important part of the experience, and having Lightroom Classic ready to use will ensure you can fully participate in the workflow and image review sessions throughout the retreat.
